Imperial Beach Woman Stabbed in Home Invasion

When the couple answered a knock at their door, the suspects forced their way in deputies say

An Imperial Beach woman was stabbed during a violent home invasion and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says its deputies are now doing everything they can to find the suspects.

The couple says it was a man and woman who invaded the couple's home in the 200 block of Dalhia Thursday.

The violent home invasion began around midnight, with a knock at that door. The residents say they had just unlocked the door when the man and woman forced their way into the apartment unit.

The couple told deputies they tried to defend themselves and the incident quickly turned into a fight.

Deputies say the suspects left the scene on foot and left behind a knife and a gun. The suspects had to make their way through a fence, before getting to that apartment's front door.

In the end, the woman who lives in the apartment was stabbed and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

One neighbor told NBCSanDiego he was stunned by the violence.

Edward Feltis has lived in the area for six years and said it’s usually a quiet, safe neighborhood.

“I would not suspect that down here so unless it’s somebody she knew, I have no idea,” Feltis said.

The couple who was attacked had recently moved in to the apartment according to neighbors.

Authorities are asking for your help to locate the suspects. If you have any information about this home invasion, you can call the San Diego County Sheriff's Department at 858-565-5200.
