Man Now Charged With Attempted Murder in Random Attack on Woman: SDPD

A woman getting out of her car early Monday morning was randomly attacked by a man now charged with attempted murder, San Diego Police (SDPD) said.

The stabbing happened at approximately 5:01 a.m. Monday near Morena Boulevard and Savannah Street in San Diego's Morena neighborhood, police said.

A 59-year-old woman was stepping out of her car when she was attacked by a man, later identified as Gregg Taylor, 57, police said. The woman was stabbed six times in the chest, neck and head.

Taylor was booked into jail on one count of attempted murder. Authorities said it is unclear if he was under the influence.

The woman is a psychiatric nurse at the North Central Region Outpatient Clinic on Morena Boulevard at Savannah Street.

“I never hear that in the years working here but yeah, now it make me worried and now I will have to be more cautious and park my car closer,” said Saritma Hankan, who works as a store clerk in a nearby business where the attack happened.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have more information to call them.

As of Tuesday, the woman remains in the hospital, her family told NBC 7.
