Woman Hit, Killed by Motorcyclist in Mira Mesa

A woman was hit and killed by a motorcyclist at the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Ruiz Tuesday evening around 8 p.m., San Diego police said.

The woman, 83, was crossing illegally, said police.

She stepped over a raised divide and began walking into the southbound lanes.

The motorcyclist, 23, tried to dodge her by switching lanes but failed, according to SDPD.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital shortly after. His injuries were not life-threatening.

SDPD Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
