An autopsy is scheduled for a woman found in burning vehicle in a parking lot at UCSD, according to homicide detectives.

Several people called 911 at about 9:20 p.m. Friday night to report a burning vehicle in the east commuter lot of UCSD on Voigt Drive.

Firefighters responded and put out the fire.

“When they examined the interior of the vehicle, noticed a deceased female inside,” said Lt. Kevin Rooney.

The female has not been identified and the cause of death is not yet known. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday morning.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293.
