Woman Crossing Street Killed by Driver Running Red Light: SDPD

A woman struck and killed by a driver in San Carlos Thursday was a mother of three who was heading to Cowles Mountain, her husband told NBC 7.

Rocio De Anda Leamon, 38, was crossing Navajo Road and Golfcrest Drive just before 6:30 p.m. San Diego Police say Leamon had the right of way at the time she was struck.

A Chevy Silverado truck was traveling eastbound on Navajo and failed to stop at a red light, traffic investigators said.

Leamon was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her husband, Victor, says he fell in love with her the moment he met her in 1994. He describes her as "the kind of woman that lights up your darkest days by just the shine of her smile."

Leamon's parents, siblings and extended family live in Puerto Vallarta, Victor shared through an online fundraising page.

He's hoping friends and family will help him return her to Puerto Vallarta in order to lay her to rest.

The driver, 38-year-old Joshua Daniel Taylor, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
