Woman Crashes Into Pole, Arrested for DUI

Crash happened in the 10600 block of Prospect Avenue on Friday night, according to officials

A 26-year-old woman was taken into custody for suspicion of drunken driving Friday after crashing a vehicle into a Santee power pole, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The accident happened in the 10600 block of Prospect Avenue, near Route 67, at about 10:30 a.m., according according to sheriff's deputies.

The woman reportedly struck the pole and overturned, leaving the pole sheared off, with wires hanging across Prospect Avenue.

Officials had to close off Magnolia and Cottonwood avenues as SDG&E and Santee city crews were called out to the scene to assess the damage done, deputies said.

The driver, who was later identified as Lindsey Williams, wasn't injured in the crash and was given a  series of sobriety tests after deputies noticed the smell of alcohol on her breath and body, according to a Sheriff's dispatcher.

Officials said that Willams' blood-alcohol was determined to be .14, nearly twice the presumed level of drunkenness, and she was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.
