Woman Attacked Jogging in Chula Vista Park

The jogger was hit in the head and knocked to the ground by two men who fled

A woman was attacked while jogging, hit in the head from behind and knocked to the ground by two men in Chula Vista, according to police.

“Two suspects then began punching and kicking her in the head and stomach,” Chula Vista Police Dept. spokesperson Bernard Gonzales said.

The attack happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCandliss Park on East J St.

The suspects fled into the park, leaving the victim to call for help on her cell phone, police said. Officers searched the park and nearby canyon, but couldn’t find the suspects.

“It does not appear that the suspects attempted anything further than physically assaulting the victim,” Gonzales said.

She was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this attack is asked to call the Chula Vista Police Department at 619-691-5151.
