Wells Fargo & Co. Gives $459,000 in Grants to Local Groups

Wells Fargo & Co., the nation’s largest mortgage lender, announced the awarding of grants to two San Diego nonprofits: Community Housing Works, a nonprofit focused on housing issues, for nearly $164,000; and National Community Renaissance, another nonprofit, for almost $295,000.

The two grants, totaling nearly $459,000, are part of Wells Fargo’s Urban Lift program that has made grants to 59 organizations in 25 metropolitan areas in the nation.

CHW said it is using the funds to make site improvements to a City Heights affordable housing project. These include replacing damaged areas, resealing parking areas, installing lighting and new landscaping. The work is being done together with San Diego Canyonlands, another local nonprofit.

NCR said it will use the funds for construction of a family resource center at the Mission Cove Apartment Home Community in Oceanside, a 288-unit project serving low-income families, seniors, veterans, and special needs populations.
