Water Main Breaks in Coronado

A water main break on Orange Avenue left some customers in the area without water service

A water main break in Coronado Wednesday night left many customers without service, authorities confirmed.

The Coronado Fire Department and Coronado Police Department said the water main break happened around 7 p.m. on 10th Street, between Orange Avenue and E Street.

As a result of a leaking cast iron pipe, authorities said about 60 residents living between the 800 and 1000 blocks of Orange Avenue were without water service. Water service to some homes on parts of 10th Street, D Avenue and E Avenue were also affected.

Water service was expected to be out for approximately eight hours following the main break.

Restaurants and businesses in the area still had water service, authorities said.

Police were on hand providing traffic control.

By 10:45 p.m., crews were still working to isolate and repair the leak and were expected to remain on site throughout the night.

On Thursday morning authorities said all water service had been restored by 2:30 a.m. Crews were still at the scene filling the hole made when repairing the main.
