Walmart Opens Hiring Center to Staff New Escondido Stores

Walmart has established a temporary hiring center in Escondido, as the retailer prepares to hire approximately 200 workers for two new stores set to open in that city this fall.

A statement from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said the hiring center is at 1351 E. Valley Parkway. The company is accepting applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with more information at careers.walmart.com.

Walmart recently announced plans to open a 92,000-square-foot Walmart general-merchandise store near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Harding Street; and a 45,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1266 East Valley Parkway, in the Trafalgar Square shopping center.

Walmart Neighborhood Market store manager Sam Long said the Escondido stores will be hiring full- and part-time workers. The majority of newly hired employees will begin work this summer to help prepare the stores for their grand openings.

The Arkansas-based retailer currently operates 22 stores in San Diego County, including 11 general merchandise stores, nine supercenters, one Neighborhood Market and one Sam’s Club.
