Walmart Employee Stabbed Outside Store

Loss prevention employees at the La Mesa store tried to stob a robbery

A Walmart employee was stabbed during an attempted robbery Wednesday in La Mesa.

The suspect tried to leave the store on 5500 Grossmont Center Dr without paying for store merchandise, according to a La Mesa Police Department statement.

The store's loss prevention agents tried to stop the man from leaving when he pulled out a knife and swung it at employees.

One of the agents was struck in the abdomen and both arms. He sustained minor lacerations, and was treated on the scene. He was not taken to the hospital.

The suspect ran away, but was located later by La Mesa police officers near the Grossmont Trolley station. He was booked and faces charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
