Walk for Darfur Draws Thousands

Sunday morning at Mission Bay Park, thousands of walkers showed their support in the Walk for Darfur.

Since 2003, the Sudan government and their militia, the Janjaweed, have been fighting rebel groups in Darfur.

Their strategy? A "scorched earth" campaign that targets communities with the same ethnicity as the rebels.

More than two million people have been displaced and nearly half-a -million have lost their lives in the genocide.

The money raised from the walk will be given to the American Jewish World Service, a charity that provides funds to help women and children of the Darfur region of Sudan.
