Victim Shot in the Head in Leucadia

The North County shooting happened around 10:30 p.m., deputies confirmed

Deputies are still searching for a person who shot a man in the head near a Leucadia park Friday night.

According to authorities, one man was grazed by a bullet and several flew past his head in the 1500 block of North Vulcan Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

Lt. Paul Robbins with the San Diego Sherriff's Department said the victim suffered a minor laceration that was most likely caused by a small caliber hand gun like a .25 or .38.

Medics were requested for the victim at the scene.

Robbins said the incident may have been gang related. A suspect description is not being given out at this time.

Witnesses told NBC 7 San Diego they heard screeching tires and roughly eight to 10 gunshots around the time of the shooting.

The victim was in a parked car with several others at a skate park near Sanford Street. The group that came under gun fire sped away to a 7-Eleven at the corner of Leucadia Boulevard and North Vulcan Avenue.

Deputies and the gang unit are investigating.
