A K-9 unit searched the area near the Chang home on Wednesday.

Just weeks before she was found murdered inside her Solana Beach home, 60-year-old Sherry Chang had put her son on a so-called prayer list at a nearby church.

Bryan Chang, 28, was arrested Wednesday night at his Los Angeles home for the murder of his mother. Sheriff's homicide investigators say there is currently no known motive. Bryan Chang is now at the county jail in Vista.

Several weeks ago, Sherry Chang put her son's name on a prayer list at the St James - St. Leo Catholic Community Church on South Nardo Ave in Solana Beach. The list includes names of people who could use some extra prayer, according to a church newsletter.

A spokesperson at the church said the Changs were not members of the congregation and that Sherry Chang put her son's name on the list by telephone. The church spokesperson said he had no knowledge of the circumstances, but Bryan Chang's name was posted on the prayer list for the entire month of December.

Sherry Chang was found murdered in her home on the 900 block of Santa Florencia Monday morning. She was found after a co-worker became concerned Chang did not show up for work.

Her next door neighbor said Bryan Chang rarely visited the home, but the neighbor saw the two together Friday afternoon.
