Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car on SeaWorld Drive

A 51-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car on SeaWorld Drive Tuesday night prompting police to shut down traffic in the busy area.

Police said the woman was walking southbound on SeaWorld Drive along the crosswalk around 8 p.m. when a 32-year-old man driving a Honda hit her.

The woman was pronounced dead at UC San Diego Hospital, police said.

The offramp from Interstate 5 onto Seaworld Drive was closed as officials investigated.

The car stopped after the crash, police said.

Police said the man driving had the right of way and would not be cited for anything.
