Vehicle Hits Structure in Oceanside

Two injured Marines were transported to hospital

An SUV drove into an unoccupied building in Oceanside Friday just before noon on Friday.

The 21-year-old driver of the SUV initially rear ended two cars then ran over a curb before striking a 59-year-old male pedestrian. The vehicle then drove into the building owned by Pacific Inn on 901 North Coast Highway.

The pedestrian is in critical condition and was taken to the trauma unit at Scripps Hospital.

One of the rear ended vehicles contained three Marines. Two of them were injured and taken to the Camp Pendleton hospital.

A man from the other rear ended vehicle appeared uninjured at the scene.

The investigation is underway. At this point police don't suspect any alcohol was involved.

The driver of the SUV was able to walk himself to Tri City Hospital for an evaluation.
