Vantage Pointe: You Can Rent But You Cannot Buy

The downtown San Diego high-rise is now renting units

A lack of buyers at Vantage Pointe is forcing developers of downtown San Diego's largest high-rise building to abandon sales and return deposits, according to a published report.

Developers say they could not meet the requirements by mortgage  companies because not enough people were buying the 679 condos at Vantage Pointe located on A street downtown.

Construction was finished on the building last year.

Right now, about 200 people rent units.  About a dozen of them were buyers waiting for sales contracts to be finalized.

Vantage Pointe condos will continue renting units for now. It's not clear if the units will go up for sale again in the future.
