UCSD Medical Center to Light up in Rainbow Colors for Pride

Hillcrest's UC San Diego Medical Center will light up in rainbow colors Wednesday night in a ceremony showing their commitment to health care access and equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

The hospital will raise the pride flag and honor the victims of the Orlando tragedy.

UC San Diego was the first hospital in the region to sponsor and participate in the San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival.

The hospital has served the Hillcrest community for 50 years and has been ranked one of the “100 Great Hospitals in America” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

The rainbow lighting will remain through the month of July.

The hospital has the only in-hospital birth center in California and runs a strong outpatient program, including Owen Clinic, San Diego’s only HIV/AIDS treatment clinic.
