Two Pit Bulls Shot in San Diego Survived: Owner

Two pit bulls shot by an unknown suspect in San Diego's Shelltown neighborhood Friday night survived their wounds.

β€œWe heard both shots and then one of the dogs just screaming in agony, like you could instantly tell what it was,” a neighbor told NBC 7.

The owner reported two shots at 8:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Marine View Avenue, which is just north of National City and east of Interstate 5.

β€œI heard someone screaming,” a neighbor said. β€œWhen I went outside I saw a black truck like driving super fast."

Walking into the front yard, the owner found the two dogs suffering from gunshot wounds.

The owner called police, and took the dogs to a veterinarian.

The dogs, 3 and 4 years old, are brothers; one was shot in the leg and the other in the chest.

The pit bulls were recovering at an animal hospital by Saturday night.

The owners said they were scared and do not understand who would do such a thing to their dogs.

Neighbors, many of whom have dogs themselves, said nothing like this has ever happened in their neighborhood.
