Two Nights in a Row, Men Jump From OB Pier

Police believe the men were both intoxicated when they jumped from the pier

Two nights in a row, police have arrested individuals who jumped off the Ocean Beach pier, and charged them with public intoxication.

The two incidents occurred shortly after midnight Thursday and Friday mornings on the pier, according to police.

On Thursday, two people were reported screaming for help in the water near the pier. Rescue personnel responded via helicopter and boat.

One victim was pulled to shore with a broken arm, and was reportedly intoxicated, police said. After being treated, he was arrested for public intoxication.

The second person rescued Thursday morning was apparently trying to help the first man, but left before anyone could get his information.

Friday morning just after midnight, another man who police believe was intoxicated jumped from the pier. Witnesses called police, but the man swam to shore by the time they arrived.

Police detained the man and arrested him on multiple charges, as he also had a warrant for a previous DUI charge.
