A truck driver was beaten and robbed when he arrived to work in Kearny Mesa Tuesday.

The 63-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after he was hit in the head, beaten and tied up by an unknown number of assailants police said.

The victim had arrived to work at the Kingdom Express Trucking Company in the 76-hundred block of Othello Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

He was discovered by another co-worker in the middle of the parking lot at around 5 a.m. The co-worker called 911.

The man's truck contained computer equipment, and the suspects may have gotten away with some of it San Diego police said.

The man is badly injured with severe head injuries. He is expected to survive, however, he has not been able to give a description of the suspect or suspects.

"He does work the night shift hours and when he got here he was obviously attacked and we think robbed," said Lt. Jerry Hara with the San Diego Police Department. "But we'll know more once we look through the manifesto of the truck."

Investigators are trying to gather more information from him and video surveillance footage to piece together a suspect description.
