Man Rescued from Trench in Tijuana River Valley

Firefighters rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital

A man, rescued from a trench in the Tijuana River Valley, was hospitalized in critical condition according to officials.

The U.S. Border Patrol called San Diego Fire Rescue around 4:10 a.m. Wednesday to rescue a man trapped in a trench at Hollister Street and Monument Road.

Emergency workers were able to pull the man out safely and transport him to a nearby hospital.

Firefighters say they don’t know how the man got into the trench.
