Traffic was backed up on the southbound SR-163 after a car accident Monday night.
Medics responded to the scene on the SR-163 at the I-8 connector in Mission Valley at about 6:20 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Only one lane was open immediately after the crash. Traffic was heavy on the southbound side heading into Hillcrest and Balboa Park.
The extent of any injuries from the crash is not yet known.
By about 7 p.m., traffic was moving again.
