A half-dozen young men were involved in an attack on a pair of local teens on a North County Beach, police said.
The two 17-year-olds were attacked in the 3000 block of Ocean Street on Wednesday night at about 8:30, according to Carlsbad police. Both boys were beaten with fists and kicked during the attack, investigators said. The robbers made off with two cell phones and a wallet with $9 in it.
Investigators said the boys were taken to Scripps Encinitas, where they were treated for minor injuries and released. One of the boys was given stitches for a cut on his eyebrow, authorities said.
The investigation was hampered by the fact that the victims did not report the robbery until they returned to Vista, Carlsbad police said.
