An attorney has filed a $1 million federal civil suit against San Diego County sheriff's deputies claiming they wrongfully beat and arrested a 17-year-old Ramona boy in December 2009.
Deputies were served Monday. The lawsuit was filed by attorney Julie Kiehne-Lamkin.
The lawsuit names several deputies, the department and the county as defendants. It seeks damages for civil rights violations, assault and battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Both sides told the North County Times they could not discuss the lawsuit.
The teenager claims he was detained, choked, beaten and mistreated when stopped and accused of tampering with some cars.
He was charged with resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer but those charges were dropped. Kiehne-Lamkin filed a claim with the county but it was rejected.
