An 18-year-old was shot several times by a masked man in Normal Heights overnight.

Officers found Stephen Cormier, 18, in the 4300 block of 40th Street at about 10:45 p.m. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.

Police say Cormier was inside a home on 39th Street when a man wearing a black wrestling mask, black nylon jacket, black gloves, and black denim shorts came to the door. The victim went outside to talk to the man.

“Cormier and the suspect began to fight.  The suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Cormier several times,” police lt. Kevin Rooney said.

The suspect ran to a white Ford Explorer, which was parked on the east curb of 40th Street, facing north. The Explorer was driven by a man in his mid-20's with short hair wearing a dark blue San Diego Chargers jersey, lt. Rooney said. The vehicle was last seen eastbound on Meade Avenue.

Anyone with information should call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
