Taiwanese Manufacturer to Build $25M Facility in Tijuana

Taiwanese sporting goods manufacturer Quan Shen will build a $25 million manufacturing facility in Tijuana next year to make golf club heads, creating 800 jobs.

Baja California Gov. Francisco Vega visited a Quan Shen factory in China last week to announce the deal as part of a trip to Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan to tout manufacturing opportunities in Baja.

Quan Shen said it would sell its products to “leading golf brands.” One of the company’s largest customers is Carlsbad-based TaylorMade. Operational startup for the project is slated to begin in January.

“Quan Shen`s decision to invest in operations in Tijuana is driven by the company´s need to get closer to its primary markets in order to guarantee a faster response to its clients located in the U.S.,” said Christian Tagliapietra, vice president of the Tijuana EDC and part of the delegation on the trip.
