Local Teen's Program Helps Schools in Need Get Supplies

When David Wiesley created T.O.S.S. three years ago he was just 13 years old.

Now three years later the program provides school supplies for around 3,000 San Diego students.

T.O.S.S. stands for Tools Organize Successful Students, and David, now 15, might just be the poster child for that success.

“I walked into my brother’s elementary school classroom and I remember seeing that the trash bin was full of school supplies and they all seemed to be in really good condition,” David said of his inspiration for T.O.S.S.

David’s parents were immediately on board.

“Something sparked and he got very excited by the opportunity and it started rolling,” David Wiesley Sr., David’s father told NBC7.

T.O.S.S. is now in six schools in San Diego County, and David is running out of room to store supplies.

“Every time we have been going back and forth to Home Depot to pick up more and more. And now he has like 15 or 20 bins,” said Millie Wiesley, David’s mother.

“I would never dream that I would get this many supplies. But all it takes is you,” David said.

David Wiesley is a true testament to that.
