Suspects Arrested Nearly 3 Months After Chollas Creek Murder

Michael "Gabe" Hallmann, 34, was fatally stabbed in Chollas Creek on Sep. 30

Two suspects have been arrested for a murder that took place nearly 3 months ago.

On September 30 at around 5:30 a.m. police officers responded to reports of an assault in the 5000 block of Sterling Court in Chollas Creek.

When they arrived at the scene, they discovered Michael Gabriel “Gabe” Hallman, 34, in front of a home suffering from multiple stab wounds. Hallman was transported to the hospital, but died from his injuries later that morning.

According to investigators that day, Hallman was involved in a fight in front of one of the homes in Sterling Court, though it is still unknown who he was fighting with or why he was fighting.

Police now believe they have arrested two men responsible for Hallman's death. They arrested 29-year-old Michael Reyes of El Cajon and 32-year-old Francisco Arellano of Chula Vista. Both men were booked into jail and each face one count of murder.

Their arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Hallmann’s mother, Jennifer, held a candlelight vigil for her son at the Ramona Soccer League fields near 2nd Street in Ramona. Surrounded by family and friends, Jennifer honored Hallmann’s memory.
