Suspected DUI Driver Strikes Two Pedestrians

A 19-year-old man was arrested after his Chevrolet Suburban SUV struck two pedestrians and two parked cars early Sunday morning in the Jamacha neighborhood of east San Diego.

Police said the man was leaving a party around 1:45 a.m. in the 700-block of Glencoe Drive.

"As he pulled away from the curb, he accelerated and lost control of the Suburban. He drove onto the wrong side of the street and struck two parked cars. He also struck two pedestrians," according to a statement from San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

One 19-year-old pedestrian suffered a head injury and what police describe as a "brain bleed." Another 20-year-old pedestrian suffered a broken clavicle and broken ribs, according to police.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. His name has not been released.
