Suspect Sought in Chula Vista Arson Series

Chula Vista police have tied four, intentionally set fires at transient campsites to the same suspect or group, and now they are asking for the public’s help in finding them.

The arson series started on May 9, 2014, when someone set a brush fire at 4th Avenue and Main Street.

On Sept. 3, 2014, the suspect started another fire along 200 Bay Boulevard. Eleven days later, a vehicle was set on fire at 3303 Alvoca Street.

The most recent incident happened on Feb. 23, 2015, when a fire started at a building on 7th Street.

Police say homeless individuals live in all those areas. If you know about anything about these fires or who may have caused them, call the Chula Vista Police Department at 619-691-5151 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.
