Suspect Robs Smart & Final Store

Deputies were unable to locate the alleged suspect after he fled the scene on foot

Sheriffs are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed a store in Lemon Grove Wednesday night.

According to authorities, the Smart & Final warehouse grocery store located at 7117 Broadway was robbed by a single suspect around 8:30 p.m.

Deputies said the unknown man entered the store, robbed a clerk and took off on foot. No one was injured. Details on the losses were not immediately available.

Sheriffs described the alleged robber as a six-foot-tall black male weighing approximately 200-pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and his face was covered, deputies said. He did not appear to be armed.

Authorities said a group of victims went into the store's freezer to call 911 during the robbery.

One witness told NBC 7 San Diego that she saw the robbery suspect take money out of the cash register before fleeing. That witness said she ducked down and also called 911 to report the robbery while inside the store.

Deputies began a search for the suspect in the area surrounding the Smart & Final store, but were unable to locate the suspect.
