Suspect Pistol Whips Clerk, Crashes into Pillar During Rancho Bernardo Robbery

Police are still searching for the suspect

A suspect held a Jersey Mike’s clerk at gunpoint and demanded the money from the register and the safe Saturday night, SDPD confirmed. The suspect entered through an open back door of the restaurant around 10:47 p.m. as the victim was closing.

The suspect took the envelope, pistol-whipped the victim and ran out the back door. As he ran away he slammed into a pillar, knocking him to the ground.

He dropped the money but ran away with the gun. He was seen heading across the pedestrian bridge over Camino Del Norte. He is described as a light-skinned man about 5 foot 10, 20-30 years old and 150 to 160 pounds.

He was wearing a black hoodie, black bandana with the hoodie drawn tight around his face, dark pants and black running shoes.

The victim had a non-life-threatening cut on his head.

SDPD Robbery detectives were notified and are investigating the incident.
