Investigators trying to identify a man spotted masturbating in the presence of children are hoping a $1,000 reward will bring someone forward with information leading to an arrest.

Police believe the man, pictured above, committed a lewd act while looking in the direction of children playing across an Oceanside apartment complex April 4.

A possible photograph of the suspect was taken by a witness at the Avalon Apartments complex on 330 Isthmus Way at the time of the incident,  just before 6 p.m.

A witness called police, but when they arrived the suspect was gone. He was last seen getting into a yellow taxi cab.

Police hope someone will recognize the man from the photos.

Anyone with information can call the OPD dispatch center at 760 435-4911 or can call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
