Residents in a City Heights neighborhood called police Thursday night after shots were fired in the area.

Officers responded to the apartment on the 5200 block of Rex St. at about 8 p.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Believing the suspect was armed inside the apartment, they formed a perimeter around the area.

After about half an hour, the suspect surrendered to police without incident.

There were no injuries.
