Surge in Demand for Private Jets in Japan

Strong aftershocks and fears of radiation have prompted many in Tokyo to leave the city, even the country. On Wednesday, the demand for private jets was growing according to CNBC.

Private jet operators said they’re seeing a surge in demand for flights to help evacuate foreign bankers and company CEOs.

One jet operator told CNBC the cost of flying 14 people to Hong Kong from Tokyo was more than $160,000.

"I got a request yesterday to fly 14 people from Tokyo to Hong Kong, 5 hour 5 minutes trip. They did not care about price," Jackie Wu, COO of Hong Kong Jet told CNBC.
