Student Collapses in Gym Class

    A Rincon Middle School student who collapsed during a physical education class this week remained in critical condition Wednesday, according to a hospital official.

    The student, an eighth-grade boy, lost consciousness at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Bob Leon, deputy superintendent of human resources for the Escondido Union School District told our media partners the North County Times.

    The boy was transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, he said, and was later taken to Rady Children's Hospital.
