Kearny High School unveiled a new street sign Monday to signal the start of their homecoming week, officially changing the name of a street by their school.
They have changed the street name from Wellington Street to Komet Way, in celebration of their mascot, the Komets.
The school, located in Kearny Mesa just north of Linda Vista, is located at the intersection of Mesa College Drive and, now, Komet Way.
The name change is part of the celebration for the school’s new football stadium. The school’s ASB students were the ones to fill out the paperwork and make the request to change the street name.
