A stabbing victim removed a knife from his own chest moments after the attack according to investigators.

The stabbing happened at Northmont Park on Severin Drive and Earl Street in La Mesa around 3 a.m. Monday according to San Diego police.

They say the 32-year-old victim was walking in the park when he was stabbed in the chest.

After the attack, officers discovered the man had pulled the knife out of his chest before emergency crews got to the scene.
