Man Stabbed Near Market Street & 6th Avenue

Officers say a 52-year-old man was assaulted by a suspect who ran from the scene before they arrived

A man was stabbed to death in the heart of downtown San Diego Thursday.

San Diego police officers arrived at the 600 block of Market Street outside the CVS Pharmacy on the bottom level of the Alta condo high-rise around 4:55 p.m.

Officers say a 52-year-old man was assaulted by a suspect who ran from the scene before they arrived.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he died several hours later.

Investigators have not released the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.
