A police investigation into a stabbing is underway in El Cajon after a trail of blood was discovered near an apartment complex Wednesday night.

According to authorities, police officers were called to the Eastwood Village Apartments in the 300-block of South Anza around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of the blood trail.

Police say they discovered the victim on the opposite side of the complex from where he was stabbed. They followed the blood trail to a unit where they found the man and several others, possibly relatives.

The victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The authorities now have a mystery on their hands because no one, including the victim, is sharing the whole story with police.

"We have not found very many cooperative witnesses. The victim himself is not being completely cooperative," Lt. Rob Ransweiler said, "so the officers are attempting to piece together evidence at the scene and to locate the suspect."

Investigators say the stabbing was not gang related and the victim did not appear to know the suspect.
