Spring Valley Assault Victim Dies

Homicide detectives were called after the victim was found seriously injured from a domestic violence incident

The Spring Valley woman discovered badly injured from an alleged domestic violence incident Tuesday has died officials reported Friday.

San Diego County Sheriff's Department Lt. Larry Nesbit confirmed the unidentified victim died Thursday night at Mercy Hospital.

Nesbit said officials are not releasing any details on the woman's injuries and won't be releasing the manner in which she was fatally injured.

When the woman was found by authorities late Tuesday, she was being tended to by the same man who police have since booked in jail on one count of attempted murder and one count of spousal abuse.

Roshawn Lamar Broadnax faces charges in the woman's assault near a home in the 9500-block of Piedmont Street Wednesday.

On Friday, Broadnax pleaded not guilty in the woman’s murder.

His bail has been set at $3 million. He’s scheduled to appear again in court on July 19. If convicted, he could face 30 years to life behind bars.
