Every Thursday, seniors are offered special contests and concerts at the San Diego County Fair.

The San Diego County Fair has designated Thursdays as Seniors’ Day for fairgoers aged 62 and older.

While seniors can enjoy a discounted ticket every day for $7, special events will be held on Thursdays, including unique contests and concerts.

The Solid Gold Series, performed Thursdays at 2 and 9 p.m., will feature music that reached popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. Today’s fairgoers can enjoy Paul Revere and the Raiders, a classic pop group who also incorporates slapstick comedy into its routine. The show will be held at the San Diego County Ford Dealers Paddock Stage and is free with fair admission.

Flipside, a tribute band playing ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s music, will also play today at 5:30 p.m. on the San Diego Showcase Stage.

For those wishing for a challenge, the Boomers and Beyond Contest offers a trivia competition for those 46 and older. The quizzing will begin today at 1:30 p.m. on the San Diego County Ford Dealers Paddock Stage.

More information is available at the San Diego County Fair website, including a full schedule of Thursday’s activities.
