Sockers Captain Injured in Surfing Mishap

Aaron Susi

San Diego Sockers forward and team captain Aaron Susi has 10 staples in his leg after a “freak surfing accident,” he said.

Susi, 35, was surfing in Encinitas on Tuesday when he fell off his surfboard and the center of his board severely cut his leg. He did not sever any arteries though.

He will be disabled for three weeks, and should be recovered by the fall season, he said.

“It could have been a lot worse, and I feel very lucky.”

Fans have sent him emails wishing him a speedy recovery.
