Skateboard Attack Caught on Tape

First they pushed him on the tracks, then they hit him in the head with the board.

Surveillance cameras at the Santa Fe Depot recorded the 5 p.m. attack on Dec. 21. Two suspects -- one of them riding a skateboard wearing dark board shorts -- can be seen moving down the platform, where they encounter the 45-year-old victim, who crosses their path.

The skateboarder reaches toward the victim, then, suddenly, the attack moves from the platform to the tracks, where both suspects take part in the beating. Several times during the incident the skateboarder raises his board overhead and takes full swings at the victim. A witness told police they saw the victim hit in the head. Eventually, the victim fights off the attackers, who flee the scene, and the victim is able to walk away after retrieving his bag.

Police said they later located the victim, who told officers he did not need first aid.

San Diego police and Crime Stoppers are urging anybody who has any information about attack to call police at 619-744-9500 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered in the case for information leading to an arrest.
