Sig Alert Issued After Bicycle and Car Collision

A Sig Alert was issued after a car hit a bicyclist in Mission Bay Sunday.

The 51-year-old man attempted to cross the street at the 4300 block of Mission Bay Drive without a crosswalk or intersection around 11:30 am.

A 36-year old driver hit the bicyclist just after exiting of I-5. The cyclist fractured his neck and left arm.

While serious, officials say his injuries are not life-threatening. The cyclist was not wearing a helmet. Intoxication is not a suspected factor in the crash.

SDPD Traffic Division is investigating.
