The son of Robert F. Kennedy has been charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly clashing with two nurses who tried to stop him from taking his 2-day-old baby boy from a Westchester maternity unit. A man driving a red Audi A4 fired a gun while driving on State Route 78 Thursday afternoon.

At around 12:35 a driver in a Ford Mustang  entering the freeway from Rancho Santa Fe in the city of San Marcos observed two vehicles zooming at high speed in and out of traffic.

As the two vehicles approached, the red A4 with tinted windows nearly collided with the left side of the  Mustang. The driver of the Mustang began to follow the A4 driver, when he brandished a silver revolver, and fired one shot over the hood of the Mustang.

The A4 then fled the area at a high rate of speed, exited Twin Oaks Valley Rd, and was last seen traveling southbound on Twin Oaks Valley Rd from SR-78.

There were no injuries related to the incident.

Any information as to the identity of the driver of the A4 or any witnesses to the incident are encouraged to call the California Highway Patrol at 858-637-3800.
