Man Shot on Street in Logan Heights

A man is in serious condition after he was shot Friday night in Logan Heights.

The victim was unarmed. He was shot in the middle of the very busy 3000-block of Imperial Avenue but no one seems to know why. Nobody has been arrested in the shooting.

Police said the victim may have gotten into some sort of confrontation with the suspect.

A quick police response probably saved his life. Investigators say he was shot three times with a small-caliber handgun and sustained several non-life threatening wounds.

The 37-year-old victim was shot in the leg, arm and torso.

Area residents called the police around 8:30 p.m. after they saw the victim in the street.

There are several homes along Imperial Avenue that were in the line of fire but because of the highway no one heard the shots.

When police arrived, the victim crawled to them. He was scooped up and rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center.

β€œAt this point we don't have a motive. It doesn't appear to be gang related so we're keeping our minds open at this point,” San Diego Police Lt. Paul Rorrison said.

Police have only a slight description of the suspect. He is a man in his 20s with a thin build, wearing dark shorts with a backpack or coat over his shoulder.

He was last seen running eastbound on Imperial Avenue. Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity.
