Shooting Reported at El Cajon Gym

Medics called to the scene of 24-Hour-Fitness parking lot

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of an El Cajon Gym Monday night.

Medics were called to the scene of a 24-Hour-Fitness parking lot in the 100 block of W. Main St. at about 9 p.m. Monday, police said.

The victim, a man between 25 to 30 years-old, was shot in the abdomen by an unknown suspect. He managed to walk 150-feet into the gym for help.

Gym members said they heard a woman scream just after the shots were fired. Several came out and saw the victim laying on the ground. Gym staff helped the victim while they waited for medics to arrive.

The patient was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say he is now in stable condition.

Police do not have suspect information at this time.
