Shark Spotted Off Carlsbad Coast

The sighting took place around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to a pilot who snapped a photo of the shark

A shark was spotted off the coast of Carlsbad Wednesday afternoon, according to a pilot who actually caught the shark on camera.

Pilot Justin Zeller shot a photograph of the shark around 2 p.m. about 10 miles off the coast of Carlsbad.

The shark is believed to be a great white.

A shark sighting last month in La Jolla prompted the temporary closure of La Jolla Shores right before the 4th of July holiday.
